Fragile Earth: Prawle series -
Fragile Earth:Prawle series exhibited at Lauderdale House, London, August 2009 Painting is important to me, all my research informs what I do, and and here I seek to create a feeling of being in the landscape in an area called Prawle Point, 20 miles south of my home in South Devon, and the southern most spot of Devon. I love it down there, it is rugged coastline full of colour and texture; the cliffs fall abruptly in to the sea, but not before it exposes layered rock, smoothed by the waves, the green of tarnished copper. The wind blows sharply across the grasses which are full of colour even on the dullest day. If you would like to know more about how and why I produced this body of work, click on this link. My paintings produced for this exhibition are added to my Fragile Earth series , they are inspired by my desire to create work that evokes a feeling of place, that place is precious, and ever changing - our world; in this case the sensation of the wind in the grasses on the shore at Prawle Point, 50.12° N, 3.43° W, South Devon, England.
