How Are You Today, 27 February 2005

'Somewhere, Someone is Doing Something'*

Video piece, 5 looped 9 minute videos with sound running simultaneously.

At precisely the same time - between 05.00 and 06.00 GMT, on 27 February 2005, I and four collaborators, in a total of 5 different continents, filmed people as they passed by, asking them 'How is/was you day today".

Times Square, New York filmed at 12 midnight local time, Luton airport, England at 6am local time, Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa at 9am local time, Honk Kong city, Hong Kong at 1pm local time and Brisbane, Australia at 3pm local time.

My desire was to show a little slice of the world in 'real time', and to encourage the viewer to consider what is happening around the world, now, as they stand in front of the work.

Please visit again later as I am going to put a short version on YouTube.

5 monitors playing 5 looped, 9 minute videos.
